Unbelievable!

Last night Eva slept for the longest straight period of her entire life.  She slept for NINE HOURS.  It has been a particularly rough sleeping week and when I awoke to her screaming, I was surprised by how clearheaded I felt.  Then I looked at the time.  I am so proud!

I thought she had made some great developmental sleeping stride, but this morning Eva’s Dad found some sharp edges in the bottom of her mouth.  Her first tooth has broken through!

Dancing Machine

Eva has a very unique little dance. She likes to wiggle her rear end to the music. She also sings along. It is so adorable! I know the video is dark but I hope you are able to see it because it is pretty much the most hilarious thing I have ever posted. Better than the sniff.

Sweet Sleeper

We are working on getting Eva to sleep through the night. We are using a book called “The No Cry Sleep Solution.” This book is not an easy quick fix, as it requires a lot of different steps over a long period of time. We have had a bit of success. She puts herself back to sleep a few times over the night. One of the steps requires establishing a lovey. It took me a long time to find a lovey because I feel like a lovey is something you take to college (like my freshman year dorm roommate) and I wanted it to be really cool. The choice was really overwhelming. I finally settled on this frog because it was cute, and I needed some sleep. Contrary to the picture above, he has not become a lovey, but she and he are establishing a special relationship. Now I just need to think of a cute name for him. Suggestions?

Nine Months In, Nine Months Out

Eva is officially on the outside for longer than she was on the inside. This nine months has been extremely different from the nine months I carried her! While pregnancy was pretty good for me, these last nine months have been filled with more fun and adventure and tears and learning than I ever dreamed of. My daughter is truly an amazing little being.

We went to the doctor last week and learned that Eva is 17 pounds 8 ounces, 27 and a quarter inches tall, and has a 17 inch diameter head. We also learned she has normal levels of lead in her blood (a relief for me, considering we live in a 120 year old house) and normal iron levels. Unfortunately for all involved, the lab needed to take 2 vials of Eva’s blood to test for iron and lead levels. That is like 1/4 of Eva’s blood!  Needless to say, Eva was not pleased.

Eva Steps!

Eva keeps growing by leaps and bounds every day. She takes small steps when you hold onto her arms, and she can stand on her own for short periods of time. I need to watch Eva all the time because her favorite thing in the world to do is to pull up. On everything.

Eva’s Dad and I are convinced she has said her first words. We both have heard her say ball. Eva’s Dad has heard her say water.
